The Resort is very isolated, and expensive to go anywhere. You are actually quite captive. Off season is not the time to go here. There are very few options for activities outside the resort. Apart from an island tour which is well worth doing, you are really confined to barracks, book reading (no TVs) and waiting for sunset drinks. Yes, there is some good snorkelling, swimming and kayaking, but that's it. No TV's or DVD library, no games as such. So, it's an awfully long way to go, and very expensive for just this. Unless of course that's what you're looking for.

A little further from the main area of town but a nice walk.

Couldn’t find any ramp which could be wheel chair friendly. A ramp could be introduced for ease of moving luggage’s and for elderly people.

"The location is right in the heart of Georgetown, within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions. The accommodation is beautifully designed,easily the best I’ve seen in Penang. The staff were incredibly friendly and always made sure we were well taken care of."

If I were to nitpick, the dinner menu could be a bit more interesting. Other than that, everything was great.

"Curat, mare, chiar la intrare în situl Petra. Mai aproape de atât nici ca se putea. Micul dejun ok, destul de variat, personalul de acolo care servea foarte amabil și promt."

Hotelul este minunat, curat, nu am ce reproșa. Dar pernele sunt îngrozitoare: mari și foarte înalte, nu te poți odihni deloc. În plus, am stat în camera 423 care a fost foarte zgomotoasă ( evacuarea aerului sau ceva legat de electricitate, nu am înțeles), iar asta ne-a făcut să nu ne odihnim foarte bine. De asemenea personalul hotelului mi s-a părut foarte steril în atitudine, destul de reci, cel puțin la check in nu am văzut niciun zâmbet pe chipul domnului de la recepție, în contradicție cu toată ospitalitatea poporului Iordanian. Se putea și mai bine pentru un hotel de 5*

"The hotel was exceptional from arriving to leaving. The little touches make it extra special like free mini bar, little gifts in your room every evening, water hampers on the beach. The beach is amazing, all rooms have perfect views. Staff are very attentive. Breakfast has the best choices, one of the best I have had. Michelin star restaurant is fabulous would definitely recommend."

Rooms very expensive but definitely worth a visit

"Locatia este ideala daca vrei o escapada la balaceala. Ai tot ce ai nevoie pentru un sejur la spa. Salteaua si pernele au fost foarte confortabile. Mancarea servita la cina si la micul dejun este excelenta, cu siguranta gasesti ceva ce sa iti placa indiferent de gusturi. Personalul este foarte amabil."

Placerea mea personala este sa se poata face bezna in camera, aici nu a fost cazul, dar nu pot sa spun ca m-a deranjat in mod deosebit. Camera ar putea fi putin mai curata in sensul ca pe mocheta se mai regasesc niste pete, pe pereti de asemenea, dar inteleg ca asta este si vina oaspetilor care nu au grija.

It was not easy to get service on the tables near the beach. The sun beds did not have cushions so were uncomfortable to lay on.

The food in the restaurant was very poor - surprisingly for a country like Kyrgyzstan where generally the food is excellent

"This was our fourth Christmas holidays at Vila Bicuda. Everything was excellent, as always, except that we were accommodated in a house that had recently been renovated, and there was a strong smell of paint in the bedroom."

Micul dejun a avut destul de putina diversitate, in special in ceea ce privește legumele si fructele proaspete. Baia si WC-ul necesita renovari profunde si urgente! Lipsesc total plasele de insecte (la geam baie si usa de la balcon)

"The stay at Scrub Island was amazing. The hotel is super comfortable, the bed was great, and the rooms are big and clean. The employees were super helpful.l, especially the manager, Raj, willing to walk the extra mile to help us."

"The villa had great privacy, beautiful landscaping, a good layout for our group. It was well-equipped with essentials for cooking/serving. The salt pool was perfect for cooling off after a hike. It was just big enough and always seemed to be at the right temperature. We were delighted by fireflies, tree frogs, bats, local birds, and even a shy ginger cat that wandered past once or twice."

THE ROAD- while we expected a rough access road from reading previous reviews, the construction during our stay detoured us through the banana plantation over an intolerably (for anyone with neck/back problems) rough track that was 4x longer. While the ocean (not a swimming beach) is close enough to hear, there is not much view. It is a peek from one corner of the pool deck, and the upper bedroom. But again, wonderful privacy. Also of note- there are no bug screens on the windows. It was perhaps an assumption on our part with the newer construction, but the mosquitoes did cause some distress, especially for one member of our group. Bring bug spray, After-Bite (anti-itch), and Benadryl if you are prone to reactions.

"I had never been to an all inclusive resort before and was sceptical and personally probably will never do it again but nothing to do with the Bareclo, simply my preference but the resort was totally amazing considering the price. I had one of the bungalows which has large vey well decorated and very comfortable likewise the bathroom. Considering the size of the resort the WiFi was excellent . I never used the pool which was huge but instead the beach and swam several times The beach is stunning and spotlessly clean as to the gardens they are stunning and so well kept. The staff were so friendly and helpful especially so the ones in the dining room I have never seen such a volume of food being served ( and consumed !) in such vast qualities and the staff there in my view were so patient considering what they were dealing with! Overall I cannot fault the resort in any major way you get amazing value for money … congratulations to Barcelo"

The checking in process is very unwieldy on arrival I joined a queue of at least 50 people I got there in the early afternoon and they simply would not let anyone in to their room before 3 pm And surely some of rooms were really and why allow check ins as was available . This is not the first time I have come across this attitude The resort is large and at first it was difficult to find your bungalow as it’s not overly well signposted The was an entertainment lady around the pool screaming down a microphone … why is that necessary ? Overall it was a great stay Well done Barcelo

The room is beyond confortable, and everything was peaceful and beautiful. Loved the Food at Omakase, not so much at Ike’s bistro (except breakfast, which was delicious and with great variety) Other than that absolut perfection."

I just wouldnt recommend dinner at Ike’as bistro, but the other restaurants Were delicious! Omakase is outstanding for a great Price.

I liked everything, the only recommendation is more variety of food for breakfast. 4 days in a raw all dishes for breakfast were the same.

Le prix reste un peu cher pour le Myanmar dans le contexte politique actuel même si il se comprend. Le confort du lit, matelas, était mauvais. Les coupures d'électricité durant tout un après-midi sont aussi à prendre en compte. Enfin les matelas et les serviettes autour de la piscine semblent une option.

"A large resort, with a number of Pools and large beach area, with all sporting amenities. A number of eating options on site and we had two excellent meals at the two signature restaurants in the resort."

Everything was lovely!

"Great pools, no rush to grab a lounger in the morning, comfy bed, good shower, excellent location right in the middle of The Gap. The crazy golf course was superb! Gardens were large and well kept."

Bar was expensive so no-one really used it. Pure Ocean restaurant was just ok. Apartment was a bit tired in places. Felt it was expensive for what it was but worth paying the extra for pool/garden view.

"Well maintained, super friendly and helpful staff. Room was always well stocked with towels and cleaned. Nicola does a great job by the pool keeping everyone happy with towels, food and drinks. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly and the bartender was always smiling and talkative. D Richard’s steakhouse was great - Steak Diane and Filet were both excellent. Sol de Mar had good Mediterranean style food with a relaxed atmosphere. My husband and I ate here on a few occasions- pasta with lobster, veal scallopini both great choices. Close location to a number of off property restaurants that are excellent."

The pads on the loungers are very old, worn thin and extremely uncomfortable to sit on. Chef’s Table wasn’t good- we ate only one dinner there and the lobster cake and fish were dried out. The pasta dish with Shrimp had the full shell on the shrimp still making eating very messy. Lobster Fest on the beach was disappointing. The lobster was dried out as it had been sitting under lamps for some time. We waited 30 minutes past our reservation time to finally get a table after speaking with the manager in charge. Very unorganized.

"From arriving up to leaving, it was perfect! The rooms are comfortable and clean. Stuff is always doing the best service, from the reception over the cleaning staff to the restaurant! Even there was a animation for kids at the pool what our son really enjoyed. The Chef cooking delicious meals and sharing some special tip to make your food better! The waiters have done always a great job , Jonathan was always having some jokes to made us laugh. Cleaning staff always was respecting your privacy and when told them come back at time they was at the point! At the point a perfect stay what I can just recommend."
