Bărci în Olanda

"It was an amazing experience! Living off a boat (parked in a harbour of course;)), in winter, surrounded by all the necessary amenities ie 24 hr carrefour express, pharmacy, pizza and everything Monaco had to offer, all within walking distance (right opposite the Prince’s car collection, Monaco Ville to the right, Monte Carlo to the left). Sitting out on the chilly deck in January sipping hot coffee watching the sunrise. Not something you can do everyday. I loved it! The boat is not fancy but it was warm and clean and had everything one would need. Olivier was a great host. There to welcome us and then guided us to our train for Paris."

There was nothing I did not like. Even when the wind picked up, Olivier came and tied the boat down so to make sure we were not tossed around too much. Super thoughtful!

"A 2 pas du centre historique de Douarnenez sur le port, charmand petit voilier où il fait bon séjourner ; ce n'est pas très grand (normal), mais c'est bien aménagé, et vous avez tout pour passer un bon séjour insolite."

Il peut faire un peu frais et humide (mais nous y étions en février ce qui est normal sur un bateau)

Der Gastgeber Franck ist sehr nett und er erklärt auch wunderbar die Handhabung des Dingis, so dass man auch jederzeit an Land gehen kann. Möchte man aber bei so einem paradiesischen Hausboot gar nicht :-). Mehr Karibik geht nicht!"

They pick you up by dinghy on the Crown Marina dock, and will take you by dinghy over to Water Island. In my case, I had two berths (bedrooms and bathrooms) on the boat, rocked to sleep by the rolling of the boat on the water. Don't miss going to water island, golf cart to Limestone Beach (coral reef) and Honeymoon Beach (the latter has turtles swimming around)"

The listing didn't make it quite clear what the accommodation would be - it described an apartment and a pool view. I thought it might be a houseboat on a dock. The pool view is the sea around the boat!

"The bed was super soft, and comfy. The manager was super lovely. We had come in from a day of hiking and it’s just what we needed."

This is a new concept. A few teething issues to sort. Breakfast took a long time. They should also make you aware in advance about cruise timings as it means the boat is unaccessible. This is OK providing your planning an evening out somewhere anyway. Evening cruise from 8pm to 11pm in our case

"Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year."

"I loved the cozy boat house vibe and the thoughtful staff—they even gifted a local boat tour, which made the stay fun. The location was quiet yet easy to get around, and the space was clean and comfortable."

There’s barely anything to fault, but the spot is a bit far from busy areas. It wasn’t a real issue for us, though, since we wanted a peaceful stay.

"A different place to stay. A wood cabin but with all facilities such as fridge, single ring cooker, air conditioning, huge varanda with room for a dining table and chairs plus recliner chairs and a washing rack. Wonderful views of the Duero river. Pick up the train (one kilometre walk away) to Pinhao - 30 minute journey along the edge of the river-for food shopping and long, lazy lunches or to Porto for a day out. Rail fares in Portugal are very cheap and half price if over 65!"
