"This place has probably the best sea views in the whole area. The nice spacious bathroom with a big bathtube was just a couple of meters away from the room itself. Although our room didn't have aircon, it was well possible to survive with just a fan and open windows. One big bonus were fruit stalls with the best and most affordable selection of fruit (papayas, pineapple, bananas, etc.) just a couple of steps away from the house. For heavier meals, there is a nice selection of food available at the Retreat Seaside restaurant downstairs. Airport transport and several supermarkets are just a 10 minutes walk away. And by the way, the house has an earthquake-safe construction."

"Nice swimming pool. Relaxed. Sport didn't really intrude. Daniel got the single travellers to join his table for the weekly pub quiz."

"Great location, clean room, great little shared kitchen and bathroom area. Staff were very friendly. Food is good, cook the best fries. Jill's Cafe is just a walk away. Buses easy to access. Walk into town approx 15 mins."

"Fantastic location - within 15 minutes walk of everywhere I wanted to go to in town. Our double room was huge - especially the shower, and it was nice to have a pool to use during the hot days, and a bar with happy hour prices. The welcome pack was a nice surprise too. Shout out to Chris in particular for making us feel so welcome. A great fun vibe."

"The bedding / towels were on the more basic side, but still adequate, and at least the towels were changed every day. If you're looking a quiet time, this might not be the place for you - we were there during the football grand final, and that was quite the rowdy event at the bar - they have a weekly trivia night too with karaoke later in the evening. But honestly, this stuff didn't bother us too much."

"Location was good, staff were lovely and so helpful and friendly! Bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily. The food was also really nice and at a fair price."

"I liked the friendliness of the staff, the room #1 I was provided (double bed- what a treat), the feeling of safety as a solo traveler, the constant cleanliness of the bathroom areas."

"Everything, from the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out the staff and managers could not be any more hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. As far as sports go, all were covered on 3 televisions and one big screen Thanks Dan and Andrew, and staff."

"Only one complaint was that on the Saturday night the all blacks were playing and the 400 odd patrons who wanted to watch that game was given preference over the both of us that wanted to watch the NRL and we were relegated to the back corner. At least Dan made sure we were comfortable and could watch our game"
