"With friendly staff, clean rooms, a good expanded-continental breakfast buffet, and a fine location in the center of town, this hotel is a great choice. The classic building itself is very impressive, and offers some interesting interior stonework, a nice guest lounge, and other sitting nooks here and there — the hotel is practically an extension of the beautiful, historic town in which it is centered. Don’t miss the photo of Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno, who stayed here in 1908 when, I presume, it was still a private residence. (Note: though the site placed a tiny Spanish flag under my name -- and I don't really have any objection -- I'm actually from the USA.)"

"Great location. Exceptional design with the old fortification wall literally passing through the hotel. Reasonably clean room. Good wifi."

"The room was ran down, with a part of the ceiling missing and nails reaching out of the old furniture. When I was waiting for the check-in the receptionist was literally saying (in Portuguese) that 'he had no patience for such people' in respect to the foreign guest that was ahead of me. Rather poor breakfast. Impossible to regulate the AC temperature."

"No taxis on Sunday from the station so had to walk steeply uphill for two hours in the rain. Hotel facilities are outdated but functional."
